PlayTest: King’s Lynn
Free 5-day creative workshop for 13 to 18 year olds
Mon 15th – Fri 19th August
On 15th – 19th August, Common Ground is teaming up with theatre-makers Coney at green spaces in King’s Lynn and NWT Roydon Common! Join us for a creative, playful workshop for 13–18-year-olds exploring arts, heritage and games. We’ll be based at the White Barn – set within St. George’s Guildhall, 29 King Street and heading to green spaces like The Walks and Roydon Common throughout the week.
During the 5-day project, you’ll create new ways for people to experience and connect to wild spaces in Kings Lynn, led by your interests. What if a park visit didn’t have to be a picnic, but a giant scavenger hunt? Or a phone game that interacts with nature? How would you like to explore green spaces? Let your imagination run wild!
The BAFTA award winning team from Coney will share their methods of creating interactive theatre, games and adventures that can take place anywhere. Learn how to design and use physical games, digital platforms, storytelling techniques and the heritage around you to create new, exciting experiences that connect people to places.
Discover and share what matters to you and what you’re passionate about. The environment, human rights or even your favourite food! You’ll learn how to make a change through your games and Coney’s methods of encouraging playful activism.
Over the week you’ll develop creative thinking and making skills, build confidence, gain experience in the arts and share what matters to you. It’s a great opportunity to get inspired by heritage and try out new and exciting ways of creating. Whether you’re a regular visitor to the sites or you’ve never heard of them, you can get involved – no experience required!
Common Ground is dedicated to making our workshops as comfortable and accessible as possible, so that everyone can join in the fun!
