Common Ground

Discover, Define and Design Your Heritage

Common Ground Leaders

Common Ground Leaders were a community of 18 – 25 year olds interested in learning more about the arts, heritage, creating, producing, and changing the world around them.

Over three years, theywere involved with guiding and designing Common Ground, from curating exhibitions to commissioning artists to creating content for us!

The Common Ground Leaders co-created the programme for our Symposium in November 2023, re-purposing outcomes and sharing a youth perspective.

We ran Masterclasses for the Leaders on topics including project planning, freelancing and nature conservation, as well as offering paid opportunities through commissions.

Exhibitions & Events

Living Landscapes

From the 24-29 May 2021, the Leaders took over The Undercroft, transforming the space into a ‘living’ art installation exploring Norfolk’s natural heritage and our relationship to the land.

Cley Marshes

The Leaders curated an exhibition at Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s Cley Marshes, sharing content from our film and photography project at Roydon Common. The Leaders selected images from the young people’s work, curated a theme, planned the exhibition space and installed the work.

NNF Garden Party

As part of the Norfolk and Norwich Festival in 2022, we commissioned 5 Leaders to curate, design and facilitate a creative hands-on activity at the Garden Party – an open event in Chapelfield Park with activity stalls.

Masterclasses

We ran regular Masterclasses for the leaders, with industry professionals from across arts, heritage and conservation sharing their skills and knowledge.

Commissions

Throughout Common Ground, we’ve commissioned the Leaders on a variety of paid roles, from photography to workshops.
